Guided tours of the old medieval town and Strada Nuova, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
Every weekend discover the charm of the ancient city, enjoy a guided tour to discover the largest old medieval town in Europe with its many curiosities and mysteries.
The Tour departs from the Tourist Information and Reception Office in Piazza Caricamento, in front of the Old Port area, and winds its way through the narrow “caruggi” (alleyways) and the ancient squares. Some of the main points of interest include the Cathedral, Palazzo Ducale and the Carlo Felice Opera House. The tour ends with a visit to the “Strada Nuova” (Via Garibaldi), UNESCO World Heritage Site.
At the end of the tour, visitors are entitled to a free admission for an independent visit to the Museums of Strada Nuova, Genoa’s main museum centre including a rich collection of masterpieces by Italian and foreign artists between the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries – with a notable representation of the Genoese and Flemish schools, – part of the historical furnishings of the Brignole family – Halls, the violin of Paganini, the ceramics, the coins, the weights and measures of the ancient Republic of Genoa.
